@@tiago77907 Yup, unless her past comes back again but it seems unlikely with the people that died in this movie. Nothing about Pearl's homicides but those happened about 70 years ago in Maxxine's timeline. They didn't go after Maxine because she changed her name I think and ran. Or maybe she hadn't fully used her stage name for that movie so the police only knew her as her real name and not Maxine Minx. Either way, the murders happened in a small Texas town and they didn't draw the connection. It took a separate private eye to track her down.

@@tiago77907 She doesn't really fight the killer in the pool. She falls in and then pursues the killer along with the cops up the Hollywood hills.

I don’t think it would be weird for a teenager to have friends the parents don’t know about, but to have a friend whose vacation house (maybe it was just their normal house, but it was far away) he had been to so many times he knew the security code would be surprising. Charlie doesn’t eve have his license so his friend would have had to pick him up and drop him off. Don’t you think the parents might have wondered who this person was? But again, it’s needed for the story to work so I’m ok with it!

Ohhhh, I would totally watch more of Amanda and Ryan. Like I said in a previous episode I think Jason probably should have stayed in paradise world rather than risk getting stuck in limbo with 3 ampules left.

glad you liked it! I loved the style and the use of color, but didn’t love the story.

@@WatchorPass Yeah, well... the story is (unlike "X"), a single character development. It also feels way more claustrophobic than "X", and the color palette is waaaaay more generous, like you said (for young-old 1918-1979 symbolism, I guess). I think that in order for me or you or whoever to be able to appreciate "Pearl", some deeper empathy is needed. I think I like "Pearl" more because of its character focus and its slow fall into full madness. Both "X" and "Pearl" are classier takes on the Horror genre; in "Pearl's" case, I think I felt comfy with the bleaker storyline but rich character development. I personally don't care for typical classic horror, or for gore or whatever; all good stiff is dark & psychological, in my opinion. Also, Goth's acting was superb in "Pearl", that ending literally makes you cry. 😞

I think it fit with Pearls whole mentality of I’m going to be a f*cking star. I didn’t mind the final ending, just thought the serial killer justification was weak and over the top. but it would have been interesting if she had gotten arrested but the Puritan II still did really well. so she would have been a star, but ended up in jail. maybe the end scene could have been her in a prison cell looking at a dirty mirror saying “you’re a f*cking movie star”

Yes she does, though we don't see it. Lily Collins character is the original star from The Puritan. She is back to film some scenes for the Puritan II and is killed by the killer off screen. We do see her head and body parts later though.

Yuup. That was a good one. Or hot tub time machine. If you liked this movie, I would check out an indie gem called Repeat. Horrible title and it got no marketing, but I loved the film. It has a time aspect to it that is really well done and has a nice horror / thriller vibe to it.

It doesn't really connect much to Pearl, it is more a connection to X. Pearl is mentioned when they talk about the murders, but the events of Pearl aren't really referenced in it.

That's fine. I'm happy to disagree with others. I just didn't find her character that interesting or sympathetic. She barely spoke (I know, it's the quiet place... but even before the enemies), her quest just seemed ridiculous, and she actively tried to disassociate with the people around her.

The first one is a classic. The second one is good, but not as good as the first. I would say this is the weakest of the movies, but still a really enjoyable theater experience.

I don’t know. I had to run out as soon as the credits started to make the screening of MaXXXine last night.

@@WatchorPass It's pretty good. Not as good as the first one, but better than part 2 imo. It more of a thriller than horror as they don't hide the death angels at all

Good point but my videos always have a recap. Some people do enjoy that but maybe I should more clearly say that there will be productions or guesses at the end of the recap?

⁠it’s a horror movie so I imagine it will plug up some storylines and leave something open for a potential sequel.

@@WatchorPass It will be? In the second trailer it says that it is the last of the trilogy x, in my opinion there may be a fourth but with a new story like perhaps one or two references to Maxxxine

@@tiago77907 I'm just guessing based on most horror movie conclusions. There's usually some little shock moment for the audience like the killer survived, or some new killer emerges, etc. But we will all find out soon!
